Our aim, as Bridgetown Church, is to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus did. The only way to get the life of Jesus is to take on the lifestyle of Jesus. Through the reading of Scripture—one of the 9 core practices of Bridgetown’s Rule of Life—Jesus’ reality begins to become our reality. Following in the footsteps of our Rabbi, we want to read the Scriptures every day so that they might come alive in us and that we might see the world, know the Father’s love, and serve our neighbor the way Jesus did.

Bread is a daily Scripture reading guide designed to help return to the practice of reading and praying scripture. In these pages, you will find a daily Bible reading plan organized around the church calendar—an annual cycle of seasons and days observed by the global, historic church crafted to remember Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. The order of daily readings is based on the Morning Prayer passages in the Common Worship Lectionary: a shared way of reading Scripture by Christians around the world.
